“1789” by El Lebrel Blanco: A Revolutionary Production Returns to the Stage at Teatro Gayarre

1789one of the most representative productions of the Navarrese theater group El Lebrel Blanco, will be staged again under the spotlights of the Teatro Gayarre stage This Friday at 8:00 p.m.. Premiered in January 1976 (barely a month and a half after Franco’s death) under the title ‘1789 or The Revolutionary City Is of This World’, the production narrates the French Revolution from the point of view of a group of street comedians.

Originally created by the Théâtre du Soleil in Paris, Josune Iglesiasdirector of the award-winning amateur theater company Teatro en la Chácena, has been the in charge of versioning and directing this theatrical production. Unlike the staging of El Lebrel Blanco, which featured some thirty actors, this time there will be nine, aged between 22 and 27, the actors and actresses, to which will be added five ‘hounds’ who they will play small roles (Josemari Asín, Pilartxo Munárriz, Ignacio Aranguren, Camino Saiz and Sagrario Saiz). In addition, twenty-one members of the San Miguel de Aoiz Choir will play collective roles, such as that of the people of Paris.

Tickets for this show can be purchased here or at the box office until Friday from 12:00 to 14:00 and from 17:30 to 20:30.
