All 17,000 starting tickets for Marathon Rotterdam 2025 were sold out within two and a half hours. That is a record time, the organization reports.
In advance, 35,000 people had already shown interest in the 44th edition of the Rotterdam marathon, which will take place on 13 April next year. They were advised to be quick. Last year it took a week before all starting places were allocated, reports regional broadcaster Rhine Estuary.
For other parts of the running competition, such as the quarter marathon, registration will open this fall. Companies can still register for the Business Runs. Runners can also still register via the initiative Run against Cancer of KWF Kankerbestrijding. There are still a few starting places available for this.
Expansion
Director of the NN Marathon Rotterdam Wilbert Lek says he can hardly believe that the marathon sold out so quickly. He is in talks with the municipality of Rotterdam and the services involved to get more runners to participate in the race.
In other big cities, many more people participate. For example, the Paris Marathon had 50,000 participants this year. Growing to 30,000 participants is the ambition, the organization announced after the 43rd edition this year.
