17 Years of Oppo: The Evolution of MP3 Player Manufacturers to Become a Global Technology Company

Jakarta, Selular.ID – Oppo’s first mobile phone landed in Indonesia seven years ago. But the company celebrates its 17th anniversary on September 17, 2021.

During 17 years of working in the world of technological innovation, Oppo has succeeded in making several breakthroughs in 5G technology, artificial intelligence, imaging and VOOC Flash Charge to provide new experiences to its consumers.

Initially, Oppo started its business in the multimedia sector focusing on portable music players, such as the Oppo MP3 X3 Player which was introduced in 2005, an MP3 type music player that had an attractive design at that time. This product later became the inspiration for a premium stereo bluetooth earphone, the Oppo Enco X.

On the audio video side, at that time Oppo had a special company called Oppo Digital which produced various high-quality audio – video devices, such as blu-ray players which have always been awarded in Europe and America, planar magnetic headphones that look luxurious but with a fairly affordable price and also an amplifier, both desktop and portable, which at that time combined with VOOC Flash Charge charging technology.

Unfortunately, the company ceased operations in 2018 due to blue ray competition with high-quality streaming video.

When viewed in the production of mobile devices. Oppo started its career by presenting the Oppo A103 product in 2008. This device is known as the Oppo Smiley because on the back of the camera this phone presents a very iconic form of smile emoticon. At that time Oppo was very successful in selling this feature phone type phone in the early development of a smartphone.

The same year, Oppo began to expand its expansion to a global level and is currently present in 50 countries in the world. Data for 2020 recorded that there were 40,000 Oppo employees spread all over the world.

While in 2011 Oppo just entered the smartphone market with the Oppo X903 device which is famous for Find Me. At that time, Oppo took Leonardo Di Caprio as its brand persona.

2019 was a major revolution in Oppo’s history as it turned from a smartphone manufacturer to a technology company. Oppo has started to focus on developing various technologies, ranging from the development of the Hybrid Zoom system, new fast charging such as 125Watt Flash Charge and even 30Watt AirVOOC. We are serious about developing SA (Stand Alone) 5G network and implementing it for the first time in the UK and working together to accelerate the commercialization of 5G with more than 50 global operators and the development of a new smart ecosystem.

All of this Oppo is doing to bring technology closer to humans and to create an intelligent ecosystem that is open and can be used by all of humanity.
