17 years ago, the sage, creator, spiritual teacher, musician and creator of the World Peace Run left us Sri Chinmoy from India. The legacy he leaves is the wealth of his spiritual teachings – “The Way of the Heart”, books with poetry and insights on how to achieve harmony within oneself and with the world amid life’s trials, musical compositions, drawings and even sports achievements.
Sri Chinmoy is a true ambassador of peace, which is sorely missed in the world right now. He is the initiator of the “Peace Run” and the ultra-marathon, which is still held annually in New York and in which few manage to reach the finish 5,000 km after the start. Just a week ago, the Run also passed through Plovdiv, and the Torch of Peace, carried by runners, was personally lit by Pope Francis.
“Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team” organizes the “Sebenadminavane” marathon annually on the Olympic Rowing Channel in Plovdiv.
The Indian sage says that peace begins with each person and everyone is responsible for their thoughts and actions.
In the last century, Sri Chinmoy led meditations in the United Nations building. He spoke with the most influential figures of the 20th century – Pope John Paul II, Mother Teresa, Mikhail Gorbachev, Princess Diana, Nelson Mandela, Al Gore and many others.
The Indian teacher believes that self-transcendence is a spiritual goal. “If we live in the heart, the impossible does not exist,” he says.
