The 17-year-old girl suspected of stabbing a man to death in Rosmalen has been released. It is likely that the case was a case of severe weather, reports the Public Prosecution Service. She remains a suspect in the case.
On Saturday evening, a fight arose on a covered terrace in Rosmalen between the 17-year-old girl and a 16-year-old friend on the one hand and a group including the sister of the later victim on the other, the Public Prosecution Service notes. Limited recordings are available of the altercation, as the incident took place largely out of sight of security cameras.
After that argument, the man, 22-year-old Jordy, also came to the terrace, after which “a very aggressive atmosphere” arose. “An atmosphere in which suspects, witnesses and the deceased victim had a share,” writes the Public Prosecution Service. The 16-year-old girl was then thrown from her chair. Her friend was holding a cutlery knife at the time. According to the OM, Jordy was stabbed with the knife when he “forcibly” aimed at the girl. He died shortly afterwards.
Release ‘very painful’ for relatives
The 16-year-old girl was already released on Sunday and now the 17-year-old is also free. “We currently assume that the suspect wanted to defend himself against the violence and had no intention of killing Jordy,” said a press officer. The Public Prosecution Service speaks in the press release of a “terrible drama for all relatives”.
The family’s lawyer, Priya Sukhai. tells the NOS that the relatives of Jordy are “disturbed” by the release of the girl. “This is very painful for them. They think that Jordy has stood up for his sister and pregnant wife. In response you will receive a knife. It is blow after blow for the relatives and they do not feel really taken seriously.” Soekhai wants to discuss this with the Public Prosecution Service.
Yesterday it was announced that Jordy’s sister and girlfriend had reported assault against the 17-year-old girl. The Public Prosecution Service says that it will be decided “later” what will happen with that report.
