MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A 17-year-old boy was seriously injured early Sunday morning in a shooting in southwest Miami-Dade, authorities confirmed.
According to Miami-Dade police, the teen was shot, possibly multiple times, in the 17000 block of Southwest 104th Street.
Officers responded to the area around 6:50 p.m. after receiving a ShotSpotter alert.
According to authorities, officers arrived at the scene and found the teenager injured.
He was transported to Jackson South Medical Center, where he is listed in critical condition.
On Monday morning, a stain of dried blood was detected in the entrance of a house in the area, along with medical supplies. What appeared to be a bullet could also be seen hitting a nearby tree.
The teen’s family told Local 10’s Joseph Ojo that he is fighting for his life in the hospital after being shot in the upper body and jaw area.
Police confirmed there are no suspects in custody at this time.
The investigation is ongoing.
