The Swedish Football Association announced on Monday that FC Copenhagen talent Roony Bardghji, 17, cannot participate in the U21 national team’s October meeting. The reason is a feeling, and instead he is replaced by Djurgården’s IF promise Lucas Bergvall, 17, who thus gets to be in the U21 national team for the first time.
At the same time, Bergvall is also the first player in 2006 to be called up to the national team.
– Lucas is a young and exciting player who has done well at a high level. I have followed him during the year and have been impressed by the high level he has in him. It will be fun to have him here at the gathering and get to know him, says the U21 association captain Daniel Bäckström on the association’s website.
Bardghji has impressed during the start of the season with seven goals in 18 games with FCK. He has both received playing time in the Superliga and in the Champions League, and on Sunday was replaced after 60 minutes against Aarhus (1-1) away in the Danish league.
Bergvall, who before this year joined Djurgården from IF Brommapojkarna, is in turn noted for a goal in 21 games with the Stockholm club in the Allsvenskan.
