17 people were caught with fake COVID certificates at Boryspil airport

Law enforcement officers found 17 COVID certificates with signs of forgery in Boryspil. They were presented by passengers of the international airport.

“So, on November 5, 7 people presented fake vaccination documents at the airport, and 10 more such COVID certificates were found on November 6,” the report said.

The Ukrainian authorities intend to significantly toughen the responsibility for forging medical documents. Responsibility threatens not only the producers of “fake” documents, but also the Ukrainians who will use the fake COVID certificate. Relevant amendments to the Criminal Code contained in bill No. 6084, which in early November was adopted by the Verkhovna Rada in the first reading.

Here are the punishments they propose to introduce:

  • For the use of a knowingly forged document that confirms the fact of vaccination – a fine from 17 to 34 thousand hryvnia or restriction of freedom for up to 2 years;

  • For the introduction of deliberately false data by medical workers into medical documents relating to especially dangerous diseases – a fine from 34 to 68 thousand hryvnia or imprisonment for up to 2 years with the deprivation of the right to hold certain positions for a period of 1 to 3 years;

  • Production of forged documents that confirm vaccination against especially dangerous diseases, for the purpose of sale – from 85 to 170 thousand hryvnia or imprisonment for up to 3 years.
