17 children’s livers failed

Mysterious hepatitis, which worries about its rapid progress after coronavirus cases, continues to take lives.

The World Health Organization (WHO) announced that the number of hepatitis virus cases of unknown origin seen in 16 countries so far has increased to 200. Finally, in Indonesia, it was announced that 3 children died in April due to unexplained liver problems. With the statement made by the Indonesian Ministry of Affiliation on Monday, the number of children who died from mysterious hepatitis in the world increased to 4 together with the case in Europe.

According to the news in Euronews, In a statement made by the Indonesian Ministry of Health, it was stated that the children who died in Jakarta showed symptoms such as nausea, fever, vomiting, jaundice, diarrhea and loss of consciousness when hospitalized. The fact that liver inflammation and serious hepatitis problems are not seen very often in young children is one of the issues that worry health officials in this regard.

According to WHO, 17 patients under the age of 16 have had liver transplants so far due to the mysterious hepatitis epidemic. Researcher Philippa Easterbrook, at the press conference of the United Nations (UN) Geneva Office, shared the information that very few children infected with the virus had the Covid-19 vaccine, and emphasized that the cases were not related to the Covid-19 vaccinations.

On the other hand, Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine Head of Pediatric Infectious Diseases Department Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ceyhan stated that the disease was also seen in Turkey in the past days.
