16th Heven Cup in Herbede: Hettrich improves to second place

The 16th edition of the Heven Cup took place on the weekend of September 7th/8th, 2024. The games are played over two days, whereby everyone can play on two days and their better result counts.
What sounds like the possibility of “training” under tournament conditions on Saturday as part of the competition and then being able to play safely on Sunday turned out to be wishful thinking this year. Hot weather was forecast for Saturday, up to 28 degrees, and on Sunday it would be colder, up to 23 degrees and perhaps rainy. The conditions were therefore hardly comparable. And then there was the event on the skate park next to the minigolf courses, which hosted a skate and graffiti event on Saturday. And that with loud background music, which not every minigolfer liked. Not the event for young people as such, but the associated noise was not exactly conducive to the more concentration-oriented sport of minigolf.

Willi Hettrich competed on both days of the tournament. On Saturday he was not at all satisfied with his 106 strokes over four rounds. But the conditions were rather suboptimal.
On Sunday morning there were only a few drops of rain, which didn’t really affect the minigolf, but the first four holes were still without a single ace, but with one three. The first round was recorded with 29 strokes and was a rather mediocre performance. Was it even possible to improve on the unsatisfactory 106 strokes from the day before? The first round was a clear handicap.

Then came a round of 22, followed by a 26, which again significantly limited any improvement in the result. The final round had to be a little more fruitful, otherwise a result under 100 was no longer achievable, nor was the best score of 98 strokes achieved up to that point. Then there was another round with four 2s, so a 22. A total score of under 100 strokes was still achievable, but not the tournament best; that was achieved by Siegfried Paffrath from Heven.
All in all, second place was quite satisfactory after the successful participation in the Adventure Golf Championship. The shots there were significantly different and adjustment takes time.
