Plug in the turntables, the International Record Show is back for a 16th edition on December 2 and 3 at the Halle de la Trocardière in Rezé. On the program, vinyls by the thousands but also signings, meetings, interviews…
According to the National Phonographic Publishing Union (SNEP), vinyl records represented 45% of physical sales in the recorded music sector in 2022, compared to less than 1% 10 years ago. A good progression even if we see a slight decline in 2023 due to inflation.
In any case, it is a real boon for the Rezé International Record Show which has seen its audience expand beyond die-hard collectors.
“Our core audience is between 35 and 60 years old…”explains Noël Terrones, one of the organizers of the event, “there are the relentless ones, those who are there from the first hour and have their designated salespeople, there are those who are interested in vinyl as a medium, who buy a little bit of everything, and those who take advantage of the show to have cheaper used discs”.
As in past years, the organizers are counting on 3,000 entries in two days, 80 exhibitors will be there to welcome them with more than 500 m of shelves and a surface area of 2,500 m². But that’s not all !
“We are making sure that the show is not just a commercial site, we want to place it in a complete universe which is that of music, with quite a few guests, writers, specialist journalists or musicians”.
Around twenty guests will follow one another for meetings, signings and interviews. Among them, let us mention Christophe Goffette, Pierre Makailoff, the producer of the legendary Elixir festival Gérard Pontthe Nantes rock gentleman Laurent Charliot, recently author of Rock StoriesPhilippe Manoeuvre, who needs no introduction, Louis de Ny, Erikel, Nini Poulain and even Alex Ruiz…
With a focus on the world of DJ’s on Sunday around 20Syl, Dj One Up, Dj Loran or even Laurent Allinger, Dj in Florida, ex-Little Rabbits, whom we met at his home in 2022.
Musicians, singers, writers, DJs… they will take turns at the microphone to talk about their music, present their book, their record, their passion…
For the rest, whether you are more rock or reggae, rap or electro, metal or classical, everyone should find vinyl – or CD – to their ear among the 100,000 references offered in the exhibitors’ bins.
