169,136 passengers in a single day

The figures prior to the coronavirus pandemic are a reality for Renfe. The company reached this Friday a new record of travelers in a single day since the start of the pandemic, with a total of 169,136 tickets sold on its AVE, Long Distance and Medium Distance lines, as reported by the railway operator. The most demanded destinations are those that connect Madrid with Andalusia, the Valencian Community, Galicia and Catalonia. As Catalonia is one of the most demanded destinations, Renfe has implemented a new AVE frequency in each direction on the Madrid-Barcelona linewith a stop in Zaragoza, which will take place on Saturdays, starting on June 4.

In this sense, Renfe has launched a promotion to travel by AVE any Saturday in the months of July and August, between Madrid, Zaragoza and Barcelona, for 22.75 euros. This promotion is valid for purchases made until June 1 included.

As Renfe announced a few days ago, another railway connection that has been extended is the one that connects Madrid with Cádiz, which will add a total of 212,300 places between the months of June and August, which represents an increase of 30%. The Government delegate in Andalusia, Pedro Fernández, explained that with this increase Renfe intends to “respond to the high demand for tickets that is expected for the next summer vacations”.

Between June and August 47,200 Alvia Madrid-Cádiz seats will be added, thanks to the circulation in double composition of the trains departing from Madrid at 1:05 p.m. and from Cádiz at 6:05 p.m. Both circulations will be reinforced with double the number of seats every day of the week, except Saturdays.

In addition, with the number of passengers who have used the Renfe services on Ave, Larga y Media Distancia yesterday, the polluting emissions of more than 100,000 private vehicles have been saved into the atmosphere.
