16-year-old motorist ran over another boy in Jackson Heights

On Monday night, the police were investigating an accident between two minors at the intersection of Northern Blvd. and 79th Street, in Jackson Heights.

Accident in which one of the young men ran over the other with an electric motorcycle, leaving him in serious condition.

This is an intersection that residents say they have seen speeding motorcycles and ATVs. And they already feared that an accident might happen.

Alicia Rivera, a neighbor of the area explains: “You yourself have to be careful when crossing the street to wait for the light to be on and all that. If you hear both motorcycles and cars very hard when they go hard.”

Apparently a 17-year-old boy riding a skateboard was trying to cross Northern Blvd when he was suddenly struck by the other 16-year-old boy who was riding an electric motorcycle.

The 17-year-old suffered serious head injuries so he is in serious condition at the hospital. The driver of the electric motorcycle suffered only minor injuries.

The accident has caused concern among residents who say they have seen an increase in the use of these motorcycles and four-wheelers, mainly at night.

Martín Guzmán is also a resident of the area: “The truth is, yes, at night you can hear a lot of noise. And not only from motorcycles from cars and everything. Sports cars are very fast. Boys with motorcycles and without helmets. all around here “.

Other neighbors complain that they have seen people on these scooters at high speed without respecting the traffic signals and ask that the Police take action: “I have seen many times that they pass by and they do not respect the traffic lights. They see people walking and simply they pass and do not stop at the traffic lights. Enforce that they respect the traffic rules or allow minors to drive motorcycles. “

The driver of the electric motorcycle remained at the scene and there are no arrests in this case that authorities are investigating as if it were an accident.
