16-Year-Old Lamine Yamal Breaks Record in Spanish League with Barcelona

The young star of the Barcelona team, Lamine Yamal, on Sunday evening, broke a record in the Spanish League, during the Villarreal match for the third round of the “La Liga” competition.

Lamine (16 years old) shone remarkably during the match, as he created most of the Catalan team’s chances, including a goal pass and two shots in the goal frame, so that the match ended with a score of 4-3 in favor of Barcelona.

According to the football statistics site “Opta”, Yamal became the youngest player to make a goal in the Spanish League during the twenty-first century.

He added that Omar Lamine during yesterday’s match was only 16 years and 45 days old.

The previous record was registered in the name of Ansu Fati (16 days and 318 days), as he made a goal during the Valencia match in September 2019.

After yesterday’s meeting, Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez said: “Lamine Yamal has done a great performance. He is smart and an exceptional player.. His decisions are always right.. I hope he spends many years in Barcelona. He can record a new era, but quietly. He’s happy, humble and loves football.. I’m surprised at his age, he’s just turned 16.”

It is noteworthy that this victory is the second for Barcelona in three matches this season. The team ranks third in the league standings with seven points.
