16-year-old boy injured in road accident in Paphos – driver is 15 years old

A 16-year-old boy was injured in a road accident in Paphos in the early hours of Sunday.

According to a representative from the Office of the Communications Branch of the Police Headquarters, around 1:25 am on Easter Sunday, a 15-year-old youth was driving a car in Pegeia with three youths as passengers.

At some point on the road, he is said to have hit a car driven by a 47-year-old man with his 11-year-old son as a passenger in the back seat.

As a result of the accident, the 15-year-old’s vehicle went off course and reportedly hit a road sign and then stopped off the road.

The second vehicle also came to rest where there was a pile of rocks that was off the road.

A 16-year-old male who was riding in the back seat of the first vehicle driven by a 15-year-old was injured, he was taken to the Accident and Emergency Department and after receiving First Aid he was found that he had suffered severe head trauma, was stitched up and kept for hospital. The attending physicians say that his condition is out of danger.

Also, two passengers of the second vehicle told the Police that they were slightly injured and visited Paphos General Hospital for precautionary reasons. A breathalyzer test conducted on the 47-year-old driver had a zero reading. Paphos Traffic Police are investigating the cause of the road accident.
