In February Argentine Trains launched a photographic contest for rail fans as a tribute to those who voluntarily always send hundreds of images of the formations throughout the country. If you see the Instagram post of that day, there is a user Noah Vitola what’s going on with him LikeThe story is about him.
At the age of 4, Noah knew the San Francisco train station by heart, the only active one, Belgrano, and it was his parents who took them on those first trips. Now at 16, he has been going alone for a long time and is dedicated to finding the perfect shot or uploading videos to his channel Youtube.
On one of those days, he took the prize-winning photo, which he said was simple, but it summed up everything that life at the station means. “Mine was simple, that is, it was a Sunday. I was going to take photos and there was just a formation that was so long that it did not completely enter the road, so it divided at the height of (calle) Echeverría ”, he described that day to The newspaper.
One of the reasons why he believes that it became striking is that “it is a photo that shows the movement of the station and since it is in a season with a lot of load, it shows the work of a railway well.”
award
After learning about the winners, Noé went to Buenos Aires this Wednesday to receive the distinction and had the opportunity to get to know the National Railway Museum (MNF) in detail through an exclusive guided tour.
“It was an act to honor the railway fans that we had won, in the presentation there were people who love all this about trains and well, they gave us a special tour of the MNF, they gave us a diploma and a bag with gifts.”
Among the awarded photos are images of two formations of the San Martín train that crosses in Rawson, another returning from the Socompa Pass, the border between Argentina and Chile, lastly a special mention was awarded for the number of votes to a postcard of the Urquiza train crossing the Zárate Brazo Largo Bridge. In the case of Noé, his image was of the Belgrano entering the San Francisco railway yard.
train dreams
The day he met the train station for Noah was a before and after and his family was there to see him transform.
“My parents used to take me to see the trains from a young age here at the station, and they always made me get on the machine. Later, when I had my first cell phone, I created the YouTube channel, I started taking photos, I joined WhatsApp groups to meet and talk with people who liked the same thing as me, and that’s how it came about, ”he recalled.
Since those years, he has continued at a steady pace thinking that he will soon be able to start working at Trenes Argentinos and he saw this opportunity as a bridge to reach that goal. The function is the least of it, he wants to live the adrenaline of being part of that family and traveling everywhere on top of a machine. That day he will go from being the kid who ran behind the trains to be in front of them.
