Konrad Roth is always happy when he can be on the road with his Mercedes-Benz R 129 SL. On Saturday he hosted a further 29 members of the Aschaffenburg Club, which included 30 drivers with vehicles and who had met 16 sports icons in Karbach for an entertaining afternoon.
Living a common hobby is the slogan of the members of this club, which has around 3000 members with cars nationwide. The Club Aschaffenburg was founded in 2015 in order to be able to work more regionally in addition to Frankfurt. This club has 40 members with their cars. It is led by RT manager Klaus Rose (Aschaffenburg) and his deputy Joachim Gensert.
In the season, from April to October, monthly daily trips to the region as far as the Rhn are made together. Once a year they meet for a maintenance workshop for heating and air conditioning, roof, electrics and electronics, certification, vehicles, engines, seats, rust prevention and gearboxes.
Club members meet once a month
In 2018 still without Corona, the day trip led to the Weserbergland, 2019 to the Rhn and Thringer Forest, 2020 under corona conditions to the Harz, with Kyffhuser monument, Stolberg, Hahneklee with stave church.
The club members come from Aschaffenburg, Main-Spessart, Kitzingen, Dieburg, Wrzburg and Gelnhausen, and meet every third Friday of the month in the Villa Memer in Alzenau. To exchange experiences, to discuss the various classifications and vehicle parts of your favorite items and to pass on experiences.
A further 33 regional clubs from west to east and south to north of the FRG belong to the federal club. A total of just under 35,000 R 129 are currently registered in Germany.
RT head Klaus Rose notes that the pandemic-related constant back and forth between shutdown, partial lockdown and opening efforts in the past year, as well as in the first half of 2021, left no club activities.
