In New Brunswick, there are seven new COVID-19 infections on Sunday, as the province approaches its 75 percent vaccination target that would allow it to ease its health measures. Of New Brunswickers 12 years and older, 74.6 percent received a first dose.

Health officials have identified three of the new cases in the Fredericton area and four in the Bathurst area. The seven infections are believed to be linked to cases already confirmed.

In Nova Scotia

The province of Nova Scotia reported eight new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, bringing the total of active infections to 140.

Half of the new cases, according to health officials, are in the Halifax area and another case is linked to Rocky Lake High School in Bedford.

The other four new infections are divided between the east and west of the province.

There are currently 10 people hospitalized for COVID-19 in Nova Scotia, including six in intensive care.

In Newfoundland and Labrador

There is only one reported case of COVID-19 in Newfoundland and Labrador.

The affected person is a woman under the age of 20 in the western part of the province and her infection is linked to an outbreak in the area, according to health officials.

The number of active cases in Newfoundland and Labrador dropped to 35, as six people were cured of the virus.

The province administered 369,160 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. In total, 71 percent of the population has been vaccinated.
