It was their dream by integrating, in 6e , the basketball section of the Jean-Rostand college: one day going to the United States, the country where basketball was born, more precisely in New York, to meet NBA players, to share the daily life of American college students.
The dream is now on the way to come true for the sixteen students of 4e and 3e of the Couramiaud College.
They will fly to New York in a few weeks
In a few weeks, they will fly to New York where they will live a week of total linguistic, cultural and sporting immersion because, explain Patricia Jacquemont and Émilie Foury, the two physical education teachers responsible for the operation, “the project is as scholarly as it is sporting ”. A project that almost never saw the light of day. “Last year, the Covid caused us to miss a lot of things, including competitions and events that would have allowed us to finance the trip. And then, the borders were closed, we could not go to the United States ”, lists Patricia Jacquemont, who admits“ it was frustrating ”. Then, the epidemic weakened, the borders were reopened allowing the project to resurface and take shape.
Couramiauds college students will be hosted in a New York college, will share their hosts’ day, lessons, meals, meet athletic students from Columbia University, participate in Franco-American meetings at the Elmcor Younth center college and attend two NBA games. In short, they will live the life of a young American basketball player and discover that in the United States sport is integrated into studies. As for them.
