More than 20,000 people have been diagnosed positive for Covid-19 in France in the past 24 hours. According to the latest figures from Public Health France, 159 people have died in hospital from the coronavirus and a total of 24,392 are currently hospitalized.
This represents a decrease from the day before. Indeed, there have been 743 new hospital admissions for Covid in the past 24 hours, which is almost half the figure for December 24.
Decrease in intensive care admissions
As for resuscitation services, 112 people have been admitted to France in the last 24 hours, which is also a slight decrease compared to the day before. At present, 2,625 French people are in intensive care.
If the number of deaths and admissions in intensive care are down, the number of infected continues to follow a high trend with 20,262 new confirmed cases. A result, too, of the massive increase in the number of tests carried out before the end of the year holidays. In total, 43,232 have died from Covid-19 in France since the start of the epidemic.
