Yakima County registered 157 new cases of COVID-19 from May 7-14, the Yakima Health District reported on its website.
A total of 16 claimed their lives because of the illness from April 27 to May 14, the health district reported after conducting an update.
Since the pandemic began in March 2020, Yakima County has had 30,813 cases of COVID-19 and 423 died from the virus.
As of May 13, a total of 29,219 people had recovered from the disease, the health district reported.
In Phase 3
Yakima County is in Phase 3 of the state reopening plan. In this phase, up to 50% occupancy or a maximum of 400 people indoors, whichever is less, is allowed. In addition, meetings can be held indoors with up to 10 people and outdoors with up to 50 people.
Starting Tuesday, all 39 counties in the state will be in Phase 3, Gov. Jay Inslee announced Thursday at a news conference.
Most of the COVID-19 restrictions in Washington state will be lifted on June 30, Inslee said.
Vaccines
All people 12 years of age and older are eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine in Washington. The vaccines administered are the two-dose Pfizer and Moderna, and the single-dose Jensen Johnson & Johnson.
Minors must have the authorization of their parents / legal guardian to receive the Pfizer vaccine, which is the only one approved for children under 18 years of age.

Yakima Community Immunization Center – Monday through Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from noon to 6 pm and Thursday and Sunday from noon to 8 pm at State Fair Par 1301 S. Fair Ave. in Yakima. People who are going on foot must enter through gate 1 (Gate 1) and those who go by vehicle must enter through gate 15 (Gate 15).
Appointments for the first and second doses are available at prepmod.doh.wa.gov or by calling 800-525-0127 and pressing #. Walk-ins are welcome, although making an appointment is recommended. People who need a ride can call 2-1-1. Yakima Transit Route 12 will transport walk-ins to Gate 1. No documentation or identification is required at the location. The vaccine is free.
