In Brabant, 1506 new corona cases have been diagnosed in the past 24 hours. That number was last so high on Christmas Day, when 1,647 infections were reported. There has been an upward trend for a while when it comes to the daily increase in infections. According to the RIVM, more people are now being tested for corona and the percentage of positive tests among them is also increasing.
This indicates that there are actually more infections. In recent weeks, more and more children have also been tested for the virus. There is also an increase in Brabant hospitals. There were 354 corona patients admitted on Saturday morning. This is 21 more than Friday.

Numbers nationwide also increased
Numbers have also increased significantly nationally: 8868 new corona cases were registered at the RIVM between Friday morning and Saturday morning. That is the highest number since January 7. Compared to Friday, this is an increase of 1260. The National Institute for Public Health and the Environment has registered 50,672 positive tests in the past seven days. That equates to an average of 7,239 new cases per day.
