Wetteraukreis (prw). At the beginning of the work in the now closed Büdinger vaccination center, donation cans were set up by Unicef. The money raised was intended to support the vaccination campaigns of the United Nations Children’s Fund in Africa, South America and Asia. Ultimately with success: Exactly 14,478.25 euros were raised by the time the vaccination center was closed.
“The Wetterau people donated diligently, much more diligently than many others in the surrounding districts,” confirmed Sigrid Mosbach for Unicef.
The results in the Wetterau district far exceed those in the Offenbach, Main-Kinzig, Hochtaunus and Main-Taunus districts. Throughout Germany, the donation boxes raised a total of 240,000 euros. Worldwide, Unicef has meanwhile been able to provide 390 million vaccine doses for countries in Africa and Asia. It’s not just about buying vaccination doses. Logistics, distribution and maintaining the cold chains are often more important so that the vaccine does not spoil.
“I would also like to thank the Wetteraukreis and District Administrator Jan Weckler, who gave us the opportunity to do this,” emphasized Mosbach. Weckler particularly emphasized the importance of global vaccination. “It is of little use to us if people are vaccinated only in Germany or Europe. In order to permanently defeat the pandemic, we need a global vaccination campaign. That’s why we were very happy to support the Unicef campaign. “
If you want to continue supporting Unicef’s vaccination campaign, you can do so with a donation. An account has been set up at the Bank für Sozialwirtschaft Cologne, the IBAN is: DE57 3702 0500 0000 3000 00.
