1500 participants in another edition of Trail Fisgas de Ermelo

In a statement, the organization explains that the routes “allowed participants to enjoy the natural beauty of the famous waterfalls of Fisgas de Ermelo, the granitic and xistic landscapes of the Alvão Natural Park, the grandeur of Monte Farinha, the magical forests, the levadas and trails centenarians recovered by the organization”.

The goal was located in the center of the ancient village of Mondim de Basto, against the backdrop of Senhora da Graça, the point of convergence of the entire landscape of Terras de Basto.

Luís Pereira (Linces Do Marão) and Vera Rodrigues (Clube Desportivo Feirense) were the first athletes to cross the finish line, after completing the longest route of the most emblematic race in the region, on a rainy and foggy day, passing through villages in the municipality of Mondim de Basto, climbing to Alto da Srª da Graça (mythical Monte Farinha with 947 meters of altitude), ending the race in Mondim de Basto.

Gabriel Vilela (Edv Vianatrail) and Célia Amaro (Serra D Aire Trail Team) were the winners of the shortest distance.

The biggest event in the region accounted for a total of 1500 participants, from five nationalities, in the three distances.

This race is considered by many athletes “with a fantastic quality of landscapes, both beautiful and hard trails, without ever forgetting the excellent organization of Trail Fisgas de Ermelo”.

Eduardo Meireles, from the organization, underlined the importance and impact of this event in the region. “The growing participation of athletes from various countries demonstrates the quality that Trail Fisgas de Ermelo has to offer, from the trails to the organization of the event”.

The 2024 edition is scheduled for April 22, 2024, with registration opening on December 23, 2023.
