150 Dogs Rescued from Breeding Homes, Now Need ‘Forever Homes’

Erabaru.net. Over 100 Shih Tzu puppies are now up for adoption after being rescued from squalid breeding homes.

The poor dogs were covered in fleas and tangled in feces when officers found them in Torquay, Devon, England, following a noise complaint in October.

Although 96 animals were rescued at the time, there are now around 150 of them, because many are pregnant.

The dogs were then separated and distributed to several branches of the RSPCA for rehabilitation.

They were really scared of people at first but are now ready to be relocated after the animal charity showed them ‘how good humans are’.

RSPCA Cornwall has so far re-homed three dogs, but is on a mission to find forever homes for another ten Shih Tzu.

The new owner must be patient and willing to support the dog through training and socialization.

RSPCA spokesperson Sammy Howard said: “They had a rough start to life and were not going to just walk into the house and be grateful that someone took them in.”

“They will freak out and it may take months before they start trusting people, which is an uphill battle when asking someone to welcome a dog into their home.”

“We’re not going to give up hope that there are people out there for these dogs.”

Potential adopters can register using the RSPCA website or call the center on 01637 881455. (yn)
