Mount Maunaganui: England won the first cricket test against New Zealand. They achieved something that had not been achieved for a long time. After a gap of 15 years, they registered a Test win on New Zealand soil. England won by 267 runs.

England declared 325 runs for the loss of nine wickets in the first innings. They added 374 runs on the board in the second innings. New Zealand were all out for 306 runs in the first innings and just 126 runs in the second innings.

Chasing a target of 394 runs, New Zealand’s struggle ended with 126 runs. The veteran pace duo of James Anderson and Stuart Broad, who took four wickets each, gave England the victory. Oli Robinson and Jack Leach took a wicket each.

Darryl Mitchell, who scored 57 runs not out, was the only one holding the Kiwi line. On the other side, even when the wickets were running fast, the player kept one end. Mitchell Bracewell took 25 runs and opener Tom Latham took 15 runs. No one else saw the double digits.

Harry Brook scored half-centuries for England in both innings. The player scored 89 runs in the first innings and 54 runs in the second innings. Brooke is the star of the game.
