15 years of Verbeke Foundation: from 20,000 broiler chickens to 7,000 works of art (and the setting for ‘Pieces of people’) (Antwerp)

How do you build a wonderful museum in no man’s land in Kemzeke? Geert Verbeke once ran a farm with 20,000 broiler chickens, today he shows a collection of 7,000 works of art. In fifteen years his Verbeke Foundation grew into the most important museum for collages, assemblages and bio art in Belgium. Without subsidy, with hardly any staff and yet a record of 50,000 visitors a year, the foundation defies all cultural laws.
