15 Years Fugitive With Name Change, Bank Mandiri burglar of Rp 120 billion Arrested After Exposure to Corona

TRIBUNNEWS.COM, BANDUNG – SFor 15 years, he was able to breathe free air because he ran away, the fugitive of the Bank Mandiri burglar was Rp. 120 billion Yosef Tjahjadjaja finally managed to be arrested by the authorities.

The Attorney General’s Office and the West Java Regional Police arrested Yosef at a hospital in the Pondok Bambu area, East Jakarta, Tuesday (13/7/2021)

Head of the AGO Legal Information Center, Leonard Ebenezer Simanjuntak said, Yosef’s arrest was the result of a team collaboration from attorney General’s Office and the South Jakarta Prosecutor’s Office with the General Criminal Investigation Directorate West Java Regional Police.

“The Intelligence Team of the Indonesian Attorney General’s Office together with the Dircrimum team of the West Java Police and the Intelligence Team of the Central Jakarta District Attorney have succeeded in securing the convicts of corruption crimes who are included in the People’s Wanted List (DPO) of the Central Jakarta District Attorney,” said Leonard Ebenezer Simanjuntak in his statement.

Collaboration between the AGO and West Java Regional Police carried out when investigators of the Directorate of General Criminal Investigation West Java Regional Police received reports of fraud committed by Yosef.

Yosef had tricked investigators West Java Regional Police by falsifying his identity card as Yosef Tanujaya.

“After West Java Police investigators coordinated with the Deputy Attorney General for Intelligence at the Attorney General’s Office, it turned out that the person suspected of committing the crime of fraud was a fugitive who was included in the Central Jakarta District Attorney’s DPO,” he said.

Currently, he said, Yosef was still placed at Adhyaksa Ceger Hospital, East Jakarta to undergo treatment after being exposed to Covid-19.

“After the health monitoring in question is declared healthy, the executing prosecutor of the Central Jakarta District Attorney will transfer the convict to the Correctional Institution (Lapas),” he said.

Yosef is a convict in the corruption case of breaking into the Mampang Prapatan branch of Bank Mandiri. Yosef’s actions caused state losses to reach Rp 120 billion.
