15-year-old girl and instructor dead, they were on a crashed ultralight

The two occupants of the ultralight that crashed at 5 pm near an airstrip in Premariacco (Udine) died late yesterday evening in hospital: a 15-year-old girl, a student, from Roveredo in Piano (Pordenone), and her flight instructor, a 31-year-old from Udine. This was reported by the Messaggero Veneto. The aircraft crashed during an introductory flight and, once it fell, caught fire, causing the two occupants to suffer very serious burns. Their conditions worsened as the hours passed. The area and remains were placed under sequestration by the Carabinieri on orders from the Prosecutor’s Office.

The tragedy occurred around 5pm yesterday, the girl, Alessandra, and her instructor, Simone, were rescued by a team of firefighters from Cividale and taken to the hospital in Udine, where they died within an hour of each other, late in the evening, due to the severity of their injuries. The girl attended the Volta Institute, in Udine, and was part of a small group of students visiting a flight school in Premariacco. Each one would have made a short overflight of the area. Alessandra boarded with the instructor at the San Mauro airfield but after a short flight the aircraft was seen to crash and catch fire.
