The accident took place shortly before 7:30 a.m. One person was fatally struck by a TGV, this Tuesday morning at Mauves-sur-Loire station, east of
Nantes. According to the departmental fire and rescue service, the victim is a 15-year-old boy. The dozen firefighters who intervened on the spot could not do anything: the young man died instantly.
The train, which was carrying 800 passengers, was stopped in the middle of the track, during the intervention of the gendarmerie and the funeral service on the scene. Rail traffic between Nantes and Angers was interrupted for approximately 1 hour 30 minutes but it will be able to “gradually resume in both directions of traffic”, indicated the SNCF around 9:15 am.
