“15 Thousand COVID-19 Vaccines Administered to Inmates in CDMX Prisons with Biological Abdala”

The Ministry of Health (Deadly) local, in collaboration with the Secretary of Citizen Security (SSC), applied 15 thousand 979 doses of vaccine against COVID-19 during the month of March with the Biological Abdala in Penitentiary Centers and Specialized Centers for Adolescentswith the aim of guaranteeing the right to health for the entire population of the capital as instructed by the Head of Government, Claudia Sheinbaum.

According to the authorities, on March 10, 114 doses of the Biological Abdala to Persons Deprived of Liberty (PPL) at the Center for the Execution of Penal Sanctions for Men in the North; 591 doses in the Men’s Prison Security Center I and 560 doses in the Men’s Prison Security Center II. Meanwhile, that same day and on March 17, health personnel administered 5,820 vaccinations in the Northern Men’s Preventive Prison.

Subsequently, on March 13, 60 reinforcement doses with the biological Abdala were applied at the Center for the Execution of Criminal Sanctions for Men in the East. At the same time, other services were provided, such as educational sessions on Prostate Cancer and tooth brushing technique; 93 were offered psychological consultations; as well as 50 were applied Tetanus toxoid vaccines60 of Measles and Rubella and 70 against COVID-19 in the South Male Preventive Prison, according to the agency.

COVID-19 vaccines for inmates in CDMX

From March 13 to 30, vaccines continued to be applied in a staggered manner in the following CDMX prisons:

  • Oriente Male Preventive Prison
  • Women’s Center for Social Reintegration Santa Martha Acatitla
  • Men’s Center for Social Reintegration Santa Martha Acatitla
  • South Male Preventive Prison
  • Mexico City Penitentiary
  • Men’s Center for Social Rehabilitation
  • Preventive Internment Center for Adolescents
  • Center for the Execution of Penal Sanctions for Male Oriente

Educational sessions on prostate cancer, dental and psychological consultations, HIV tests, and tetanus, measles, and rubella vaccinations were also provided at these sites. In this frame, Claudia Sheinbaum has highlighted the importance of all citizens being vaccinated to prevent the consequences of COVID-19.

In this way, the local government, through the Sedesa, endorsed its commitment to guarantee the right to health for free, with dignified and quality care for all sectors of the population.
