1,5 meter rule disappears, corona tickets in catering and cultural sector

The home working advice will also not change for the time being and the night catering must remain closed between midnight and 6.00 am.

Tuesday press conference

These are broadly the results of the Catshuis deliberation, insiders report to the political editors of RTL Nieuws. The measures will be announced on Tuesday at a press conference by outgoing Prime Minister Rutte and healthcare minister De Jonge.

The relevant ministers and experts met today to discuss the measures. Earlier, the cabinet had already expressed the hope to let go of the one and a half meter rule as of 20 September, but a few weeks ago it became clear that the cabinet seemed to be heading for 25 September following advice.

Mouth cap obligation remains

The cabinet also seemed to be planning to cancel the mask obligation in public transport, but health care minister De Jonge already hinted this week that that would probably not happen yet.

The corona pass will be introduced a lot more widely, as De Jonge already announced last week:

The corona pass will be mandatory in catering establishments. That goes for any cafe or cafeteria, regardless of how many people are in the room. “The big question is, of course: will the catering sector attract that?” says political reporter Fons Lambie. “I am curious whether the House of Representatives will make any changes to this.”

Consequences unclear

The consequences for events are still unclear. Smaller events, up to 750 visitors, were already allowed to continue, but the one and a half meter rule is no longer available. Unseated events inside large halls are now also allowed to take place, as long as they do not use more than 75 percent of the capacity.

It is not yet clear what the consequences will be for major events such as dance festivals. The cabinet will hold talks with the sector tomorrow.
