The web publication “Baza” reported that the shooting was carried out by an adult man dressed in black. Later, authorities discovered that the man was born in 1988 and graduated from the school he attacked.
The Interior Ministry announced that the attacker committed suicide.
Eleven children, two school security guards and two teachers were killed in the shooting, investigators said.
Previously, the media reported that 21 people, including 14 schoolchildren, were injured.
“Baza” reported that several children were injured by jumping out of the window.
Detailed information on the attacker is not yet available, but “Baza” reports that he wore Nazi symbols on his clothes. This information was also confirmed by the commission of inquiry.
The investigative commission also reported that the assailant was armed with two Makarov pistols.
Investigators searched the attacker’s home and are investigating whether he was a supporter of “neo-fascist views and Nazi ideology”.
Russian President Vladimir Putin condemned the attack on the school and said that the attacker most likely belongs to a neo-fascist group.
