UNIVERSAL CITY, LOS ANGELES (KABC) — Fifteen people were injured after a tram crashed into Universal Studios on Saturday night, according to authorities.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said the agency received a report just after 9 p.m. of a streetcar crash.
Fifteen people were injured in the incident, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. All suffered injuries that were described as minor, including one person who the fire department initially said had serious injuries.
“There was a tram incident at the theme park this evening that resulted in several minor injuries, confirmed by the Los Angeles County Fire Department,” a Universal Studios spokesperson said in a statement. to our guests and understand the circumstances that led to the accident.”
The cause of the crash was not immediately known.
According to a report from the Los Angeles Times, investigators said the last tram vehicle fell onto a track near a parking lot due to some kind of brake problem.
The images showed ambulances and law enforcement quickly rushing to the scene.
The California Highway Patrol is leading the investigation.
