basic remuneration, and the deputy directors – BGN 1,926.
In this way, the government guarantees the national priority of maintaining a level of teachers’ salaries of 125% of the average remuneration in the country, said Prof. Tsokov. BGN 524 million has been provided for the increase in teachers’ salaries. Currently, a working group in the Ministry of Education and Culture, appointed by the Minister, is discussing the creation of a standard for quality management in school education. He would give the mechanisms according to which criteria and indicators would be determined, which would say what is the quality work in school.
The standard will determine the quality indicators according to indicators of a certain school in the work of a certain teacher, from the added value that the school gives to the educational and personal development of children.
“It is very easy to say that the most desirable schools prepare graduates who receive a national diploma. We must also say that there are many schools where the teachers work very hard and professionally, but there the children’s progress is much less. But it is important”, commented the minister.
And the schools where the matriculants had poor grades still prepared the students to reach the matriculation exams, he pointed out. From now on, teenagers will be able to work to improve their grades next year. “You see how much
it is difficult to measure the result
of teachers because it is different in different types of schools. We will try through this standard to achieve this and say that quality is where there is personal and educational progress of each child”, summed up the professor.
Lessons will not be mechanically transferred from class to class during the change in the curricula, reassured the minister. The factual complexity in individual subjects will disappear from the content. Curricula will be simplified so that the teacher can have more time to work with certain children, he explained.
