From 3 to 10 November, 15 390 SARS cases were registered in the Irkutsk region. Among them, 32% are children under 14 years old. In general, in the region, the incidence of acute respiratory infections is below the epidemic threshold. In all age groups of the population there is a negative rate of increase in the incidence.
According to laboratory monitoring of the circulation of respiratory viruses, currently the incidence is associated with viruses of non-influenza etiology. The circulation of the influenza virus has not been established.
The Rospotrebnadzor Administration for the Irkutsk Region reminds that the most effective means of protection against influenza is preventive vaccination. The protective effect after vaccination usually occurs after 8-12 days and lasts up to 12 months. The optimal time for vaccinations against influenza is September-November, so that immunity after the influenza vaccination has time to form before the start of the epidemic rise in incidence.
