Prague – Sparta’s football players unexpectedly lost to Ostrava 1:3 at home in the 14th round of the first league. The defending champion from Letenský suffered a defeat for the fourth time in the last five matches of the top flight, and its loss from the third place in the table to the leader Slavia can already increase to an abysmal 12 points on Sunday. Jablonec won over Teplice 3:0 and jumped to fifth place. Karviná defeated Olomouc 2:1 after a turnaround and competition newcomer Dukla lost 0:1 to Mladá Boleslav.

Asger Sörensen sent Sparta into the lead, but Baník turned the score around before the break. Ewerton equalized from the penalty spot and Erik Prekop established himself in the setting of the opening act. In the 86th minute, Ewerton again determined the final result from a penalty kick.
After the 0:1 defeat in the last round in Pilsen, Sparta did not score again and won only one of the last four duels at home in the league. Letenský did not make it to the general for Wednesday’s Champions League home match with Brest. In addition, they have added another support to their squad, winger Veljko Birmančević, the best player of the last league year, may miss more than a month.
Ostrava beat Sparta in the league for the first time since April 2018 and after 16 matches. At Letná, she even won in the top competition for the first time since August 2014 and after 12 matches. Teplice lost for the second time in a row in the highest competition and remained in 14th place in the table. Jablonec beat “Skláre” at home for the third time out of the last four duels and scored full points in the league after two rounds.
Karviná turned the match against Olomouc around and won for the first time in the 14th match between them in the top competition. Dávid Krčík and substitute Kahuan Vinícius answered the tenth goal of the league season’s top scorer Jan Kliment from the first half after changing sides from a penalty. Karviná did not lose four rounds in a row, and in the seventh place of the incomplete table, they caught up with Sigma on points. Hanáci did not win in the league for the fourth time in a row.
The visiting captain Marek Suchý decided shortly after the break that Mladá Boleslav won at Dukla. The Central Bohemian team won the top competition after two months and six duels and moved to eighth place in the incomplete table.
In the league with Dukla, Mladoboleslav scored for the fourth time in a row and got in the perfect mood for Thursday’s Conference League match at the Portuguese team Guimaraes. Prague lost for the second time in a row and won only one of the last seven rounds. The rookie of the top competition continues to figure in the 13th place.
There are four remaining matches of the round on Sunday. The leader of the table, Slavia, will defend their seven-point lead over second-placed Pilsen and their position as the only undefeated team in the competition in Hradec Králové.
