144 cases of children suffering from a syndrome similar to Kawasaki disease have been counted in France since March 1 by Santé Publique France. One of them died on Friday in Marseille, two weeks after the first reports of this mysterious syndrome. He was 9 years old.

230 cases in Europe and the United Kingdom
This association “has not yet been established, but it seems plausible,” added the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) in a report published the same day and cited by Agence France-Presse (AFP). .
To date, some 230 suspected cases have been identified in Europe and the United Kingdom. One child also died in the UK, says ECDC.
Symptoms of toxic shock syndrome
This pathology is characterized by symptoms such as high fever, abdominal pain and digestive disorders but also a rash, conjunctivitis, the tongue that blushes, swells and takes on a raspberry appearance, or even heart problems.
According to the ECDC, “these symptoms are a mixture of those of Kawasaki disease and toxic shock syndrome”. Differences do exist, however, which prompted the French Ministry of Health to speak of “pseudo-Kawasaki” while studies in the English language suggest a disease. “Kawasaki like”.
