The number of positive tests is also lower than the 1450 reported by the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) on Tuesday and the 1473 on Monday, while Fridays usually have the highest numbers within the week.
In the past week, 11,401 people have tested positive, an average of 1,629 per day. That is also the lowest level since September.
The Hague had the most new cases. In the court city, 88 residents were told that they had contracted the virus. Rotterdam has 84 confirmed infections. In Amsterdam 52 people were tested positive. For the capital, that is the lowest number since August 22 last year. This is followed by Utrecht (51) and Venlo (23). Goeree-Overflakkee had 22 new cases, relatively many.
In no fewer than 88 municipalities, no one tested positive at all. These include Leiderdorp, Veenendaal, Houten and Diemen. There were also 60 municipalities where only one new case came to light, including Nieuwegein, Aalsmeer, Wageningen, Kerkrade, Landgraaf and Meppel.
The number of deaths rose by three. It concerns residents of Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Haarlemmermeer. That is not to say that these three people have died in the past 24 hours. When a corona patient dies, it can sometimes take a while before this is registered.
Since the start of the outbreak, 1.67 million Dutch people have tested positive. More than 17,700 people are certain to have died from the virus. The actual numbers are higher.
