Dimitrov as a politician, statesman, activist of the international communist and labor movement, theorist and fighter against fascism.
The National Initiative Committee for the celebration of the 140th anniversary of the birth of Georgi Dimitrov held a ceremonial meeting in Sofia on 16.06.2022. The meeting was attended by many followers of G. Dimitrov’s case and ideas, politicians, public figures and representatives of a number of non-governmental organizations. Guests at the meeting were representatives of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Bulgaria and the Russian Cultural and Information Center in Sofia. Greetings to the meeting were received by the International Organization of Resistance Fighters FIR, by the Chairman of the CPRF Gennady Zyuganov, by the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Cuba to our country Caridad Yamira Cueto Milian, by the International Assembly of the Peoples of Eurasia, by the Chairman of the Union of Veterans of Moldova – Alla Mironik, from the Moscow Interbrigade Organization, and many others. Yury Mikushin – Head of Rossatrudnichestvo in Bulgaria and director of RKIC – welcomed the meeting.

A report on the historical significance of G. Dimitrov’s work and the relevance of his ideas was presented by Assoc. Dr. Emilia Lazarova.
In honor of the 140th anniversary of Georgi Dimitrov and in accordance with the Statute of the “G. Dimitrov” Ministry of Finance, Georgi Yordanov, Stanka Shopova, Georgi Pirinski were awarded the Dimitrov Award for active social and political activity and contribution to the preservation of the ideas of G. Dimitrov and Gale Hristov. Gen. A. Marin presented the prizes to the laureates. Veselina Grueva and Bojanka Dimitrova were awarded with the Honorary Plaque of the MFGD.
The bright Bulgarian singer Greta Gancheva and Natalia Barabanshtikova – honored artist of Moldova – gave a musical greeting to the attendees. Inspired, the hall sang along with them.
