When they returned, the police were waiting.
On Saturday afternoon, the police received a message that surprised them.
The caller advised that someone had collided with their car and that the people in the other car had then driven on.
There was one thing in particular that the caller noticed. The driver had looked unusually young.
– The person who contacted us had the car number with him so that we could get hold of an address, says operations manager in East police district, Gisle Sveen.
The police then went to the address.
– Then the car came driving while the patrol was there, says Sveen.
In the car were two boys aged 14 and 11. It was the 14-year-old who sat behind the wheel.
Leaf of the Roman Empire mentioned the matter first.
– The police at the scene made contact with parents and family members who took care of both the boys and car keys.
– We had a good dialogue with both the relatives and the boys, continues the operations manager.
The incident happened near Jessheim school.
– What will be the consequences for the boys?
– We don’t have much to compare it to, but it’s probably still a few years before the person in question can even practice drive, says Sveen.
The minimum criminal age in Norway is 15, and Sveen emphasizes that the boys are too young for punishment.
– But the police only open a case and there will be consequences anyway.
The operations manager emphasizes that they fear accidents during such episodes.
– They have nothing to do behind the wheel, says Sveen.
