In early summer, information appeared that Australia could transfer 41 fourth-generation F / A-18 Hornet fighters to Ukraine. As it turns out, the Royal Air Force has far fewer operational aircraft. Writes about it The Australian Financial Review.

Journalists of the publication got access to a report on the inventory of the condition of the fighters owned by the Royal Australian Air Force. The procedure was carried out by the American aerospace company RAVN at the request of Ukraine, which Ukrainian Ambassador to Australia Vasily Miroshnichenko announced a few weeks ago.

As it became known, if Australia really wants to transfer the F / A-18 Hornets to the Ukrainian Air Force, then only 14 aircraft are in working order. Among them there are 11 single and three double fighters.

Each aircraft has flown more than 3,000 hours, which is about half the border limit. At the same time, the possibility of extending the service life is not excluded, due to which Ukraine will potentially be able to use the F / A-18 Hornets for two years.

Earlier it was reported that as part of a new package of military assistance to Ukraine, Australia plans to send Hawkei armored vehicles to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
