Diekstra reports that a message is now being awaited from medical experts from Malaysia, who are investigating the two autopsy reports on Smit’s death. The experts will give their opinion on the reports in that report. After that, the case can be handed over to the Malaysian Public Prosecutor. This is evident from a document from the local police, according to Diekstra.
Section Reports
Smit died in 2017 at the age of 18, reportedly from a fall from the twentieth floor of a Kuala Lumpur flat, after spending the evening with the American couple Alexander and Luna Johnson. Her family does not believe that it was an accident, which the court previously ruled. The family appealed against this. At the end of 2019, the Malaysian court ruled that the model from Sittard “deathed as a result of the actions of third parties.” The investigation was subsequently reopened, the police now speak of a ‘murder investigation’.
Two autopsy reports were drawn up in the investigation into Smit’s death: a Malaysian and a Dutch report. The report from Malaysia states that the model was still alive before her fall. The Dutch report states that it is also possible that Smit was already dead before the fall.
