The interventions in place contemplate reforestation with native forest and fruit species; maintenance of existing experimental plots; and the establishment of a new forest restoration trial with rental options.
In the area destined for reforestation, soil preparation work is carried out; plantation of native forest and fruit species; fertilization; control of invasive plants; control of cutter ants and other pests; opening and maintenance of roads; and sowing green manure.

They explained that the species to be introduced include those that have fast growth and good crown coverage, such as dragon’s blood, chipa rupá, tata jyva, kamba akã, among others.
Likewise, there are the species that, even if they do not have rapid growth or good crown coverage, are essential, as they gradually replace those of the coating group. These specimens are: the ka’i ka’ygua, palmito, the lapachos; those that have cultural value, such as yerba mate; fruit species of value to fauna, such as aratiku’i and aratiku guasu, inga’i and inga guasu, arasa, among others.
The Itaipú Preserva project has been running since 2015, which made it possible to restore more than 2,000 hectares of forests in nine districts between Alto Paraná and Canindeyú.
