13,500 artists sign a petition against the exploitation of their works

L’Does artificial intelligence threaten creative intelligence? human? This is what several thousand Anglo-Saxon artists fear, signing an online forum which denounces “the major and unfair threat” of the exploitation of works by this technology. “The unlicensed use of creative works for generative AI learning poses a major and unfair threat to the livelihoods of the people behind these works, and must not be allowed,” explains the petition launched by British composer Ed Newton-Rex.

This Wednesday, October 23, more than 13,500 people or companies signed the text online. Among the celebrities, we find ABBA guitarist Björn Ulvaeus, actress Julianne Moore, Radiohead singer Thom Yorke and composer Max Richter. Major firms and structures, such as the American publishing house HarperCollins, the American Federation of Musicians, the American actors’ union SAG-AFTRA, the European Writers’ Council and Universal Music Group, have also added their signature.
