The 13,000 companies made use of government support measures, but were subsequently closed down. This is evident from figures from the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS).
Bankruptcies historically low
Between April last year and March this year, 586,000 companies received corona support. Two percent of these companies subsequently closed their doors. According to Statistics Netherlands, ten percent of the companies that did not receive support closed their doors. Nevertheless, the number of bankruptcies is currently still historically low.

Incidentally, it is not always the case that a company is dissolved due to bankruptcy. For example, entrepreneurs can also choose to put an end to their company to prevent it from going bankrupt.
Amount of corona support unclear
Statistics Netherlands makes no statements about the size and number of employees of the companies that have closed. It is also not clear exactly how much corona support was involved. It is clear, however, that catering companies in particular were closed relatively often during the corona crisis.
In particular, catering entrepreneurs without corona support often put an end to their company. But many of the supported companies also closed their doors. Furthermore, it mainly concerned companies in the transport and storage sector, trading companies and business service providers.

Different arrangements
The Temporary Bridging Scheme for Self-Employed Entrepreneurs (Tozo) was the most used. This arrangement was intended to prevent self-employed entrepreneurs from falling below the social minimum.
1 percent of the 300,000 companies that made use of this scheme have been discontinued. Entrepreneurs have also made extensive use of the option to defer the payment of taxes. 3 percent of the entrepreneurs who did this, gave up anyway.
