13-year-old Tetris Prodigy Achieves Unbreakable Record on Original Nintendo Game – Level 157 Reached

Willis Gibson – a 13 year old Tetris maniac from Oklahoma, United States – managed to achieve an unbreakable record by making the original version of the Tetris game on Nintendo “finished”. The boy known by the username Blue Scuti made his achievements during a live stream last month, where he managed to reach level 157 before the game finally crashed after 38 minutes.

This is the first time a human player has managed to achieve the “True Killerscreen” in the first version of the Tetris game, something previously thought impossible for humans to achieve. True Killerscreen itself occurs when a block falls at such an incredible speed that it causes the game system to stop. Previously this could only be done by artificial intelligence (AI) systems.

Before Gibson’s record, the highest level ever reached by a human in the original Tetris game was level 30, namely by Thor Aackerlund in 2010. He uses a technique called “hypertaping” by vibrating his finger on the controller to move blocks faster.

Unfortunately, Gibson didn’t reveal what techniques were used to allow him to reach much higher levels, before the game itself gave up on a series of incredibly fast blocks. According to his confession, quoted from Daily MailGibson has been playing Tetris since he was 11 years old, and he practices for three to five hours every day.

Until now, the Tetris game is probably still quite well known even by the younger generation, especially with the adaptation of the block stacking game which is available on any platform, including Android. However, please note that this simple game is quite old. First created by Soviet engineers in 1984, the original Tetris game on the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) was released in 1989.
