13 year old teenager named Willis Gibson Be the first to win the original version of the Tetris game Nintendo after finishing at level 157.

Technically, Willis, who has the alias ‘blue scuti’ in the gaming world, managed to achieve what gamers call kill screen. This term represents the point where the Tetris code experiences interference, and makes the game chaotic, aka crash.

This may not sound like a big win to people who think only high scores count in video games.

However, it is actually a highly coveted achievement in the world of video games, with records that push both hardware and software to their limits.

Tetris itself has long been considered unbeatable by its players. This is because this game does not have an ending.

The four-block shape in a game of Tetris will keep falling no matter how well the player stacks them into a disappearing row.

Top players keep finding ways to extend their winning streaks by staying in the game to reach higher levels, but in the end, the game beats them all.

However, on December 21, Willis managed to trigger the killer screen on Level 157, which the gaming world considered a win in the game. This is proof that Willis succeeded in pushing the software beyond its own limits.

The creators of Tetris even praised Willis for his victory.

“Congratulations to ‘blue scuti’ for achieving this extraordinary achievement, a feat that defies all existing limitations in this legendary game,” said Tetris CEO, Maya Rogers, in a statement, quoted from AP.

Rogers said Tetris will celebrate its 40th anniversary this year and called Willis’ win a “monumental accomplishment.”

David Macdonald, a gaming YouTuber who has followed the gaming industry for many years, said that he had taken a very long journey to finish this game.

“[Pada awalnya] people in the Tetris world don’t even know how to get to these higher levels,” David said.

“They’re just stuck in the 20s and 30s because they don’t know the techniques to go further,” he added.

Level 29 in the game is a particularly difficult hurdle as the blocks start falling faster than the in-game controller can respond.
