A 13-year-old student in Serbia planned and executed a mass shooting at his school, killing eight female students, one male student, and a school guard. The attacker had detailed sketches of classrooms and a list of specific individuals he intended to target. Despite the abundance of firearms in Serbia from the wars of the 90s, mass shootings in schools have been rare in the country. The shooter called the police to report his attack, stating that he is a psychopath who needed to calm down. He was arrested and identified as Kosta Kecmanovic, a student at the Vladislav Ribnikar school, and carried two firearms belonging to his father, as well as petrol bombs. It is still unclear what motivated the attack, as the killer had not targeted any specific individuals on his list. The tragedy has been declared a nationwide mourning period for three days.
