A 13-year-old girl has been arrested and charged after a gun she was “playing” with went off and injured her younger brother in a residential building in Brooklyn (NYC).
The incident did not happen at the children’s house, but when They were visiting another home. from family friends in public housing Brownsville Housing (NYCHA) at the corner of Howard and Atlantic Av on April 8, the NYPD reported yesterday.
The teenager and her 11-year-old brother spent most of that day there, NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny said at a press conference, it was reported. Daily News.
While they and several other children were playing in the hall, the suspect pulled out a gun and showed her how she could hide it in the palm of her hand, said Kenny. The boy initially lied to police, saying he had been shot outside by a hooded man, but investigators traced the blood to the apartment. Two days later NYPD arrested his sister and he was charged with criminal possession of a weapon.
The children’s mother cooperated with the investigation, but It was not clear where the girl got the gun.. His name was not released because he was a minor.
